The resume and cover letter are your "first impression" to employers. It typically takes an employer only 6 seconds to screen your resume initially and decide to either keep it for further review or not. A resume should be error-free (watch the spelling!) and give an employer insight into your past experiences and specific skill sets. Quick bullets of information will grab the employers attention versus heavy narrative. While resume templates are nice to look at and can assist in helping choose the kind of content to include, they are cumbersome to work with and limit where and how much content you can provide. A Word document is the most user-friendly and transferable way to share your information. A cover letter should always be included with your resume as an introduction to how you became aware of the job and what position you are interested in pursuing.

Examples of each are included in this section. A resume and/or cover letter appointment can be made by contacting the Director of the PDCE, Justin Gregorich, at gregorjr@westminster.edu or via cell at 330-200-9177.
